Congratulations to Amanda Higgins for being selected as one of two representatives from North Carolina of The Triangle Rising Star Awards. These awards are in conjunction with the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, which is a national celebration of outstanding student achievement in high school musical theatre. Amanda will travel to New York City in June to participate in the event which will include private coaching, auditions, interviews, and rehearsals.
She will perform in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards on Monday, June 27, at the Marquis Theatre on Broadway. Congratulations Amanda!!
On April 23, the FVHS Chamber Choir, the FVHS Women's Choir, and eighteen chaperones traveled to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, to participate in the Smoky Mountain Music Festival. With competition from around the nation, including Florida, Indiana, Georgia, Kentucky, both FVHS groups acheived great success! The Chamber Choir won the highest award for concert choirs: First Place in the 4A Concert Division. The Women's Choir (Leading Ladies)placed 2nd in the Women's Show Choir Division, and the Chamber Choir (Fusion) placed third in the Open Class Show Choir Division. The following day everyone enjoyed a fun day at Dollywood before returning to Fuquay-Varina.

Four FVHS Chorus students were selected to participate in the North Carolina Honors Chorus. To acheive this honor students must go through a difficult audition process. They are selected from a group of over one thousand students who audition from across the state. The students are ranked according to their scores at the audition. FVHS students acheiving this honor are listed below with their ranking among others in their voice part statewide:

We are very proud of these students. They will attend rehearsals and sing in the NCMEA High School Honors Chorus Concert held in Winston-Salem, NC, on November 9, at the Stevens Center. They will be under the direction of Dr. Jefferson Johnson from the University of Kentucky.
